First place in the Furniture
category of Utilitario 03 a
local competition organized by
In.terno, a Mexican Architect and
Interior Design studio.
The proper use of public space is a consequence of the correct
materialization of the activities and relationships that occur within it. Take a Break is a bench designed with the purpose of providing a temporary
resting place for pedestrians and cyclists in public spaces.
For its construction, is used square iron profile, reinforced concrete with a
steel core and a wooden cover on the contact surface, resulting in a bench
with qualities of durability, aesthetics, and resistance to inclement weather.
The variation in the separations of the profiles allows for the stationing of a
road or mountain bike.
For the competition, the project was evaluated
according to the criteria of
concept, production feasibility,
functional innovation, use of
materials, and ecological impact.
