Self-supporting blanket

Final top 25 in International contest Play Interactive Kids Furniture
Organized by Archasm competitions, PLAY was a design competition with the aim of generating interactive, modular, and dynamic furniture prototypes for children up to the age of 10.

Spot is a self-supporting blanket that enables children to experiment with various shapes to create immersive spaces.

The Spot material consists of aluminium foil sandwiched between two blanket sheets, The foil has added thickness such to enable the self supporting behaviour.

Textiles are also added to the outside of the Spot material to provide interesting textures.

Unlike traditional rigid furniture, children can manipulate the Spot material to create infinite number of shapes where the child is only limited by their imagination.
